WATSON HOUSE

“35 degrees worked with our architect to deliver a home that met and exceeded our expectations.”

Designed by Habitat Architects

“Our goal was a healthy, comfortable home with lots of light that used connection to the outdoors to create spaciousness.”

“We wanted a house for two adults and two kids, who may live there until they complete university. We wanted to be able to comfortably accommodate a regular stream of interstate visitors and allow frequent entertaining with minimal fuss.

We wanted to feel good at home: to feel safe and have privacy that didn’t impede upon having lots of light and connection to the outdoors; where keeping things neat and tidy didn’t feel like a constant battle – to not be precious about things getting knocked about, feel comfortable having kids of all ages around (easy to be baby friendly); and to grow all our herbs and some vegetables.”

“We also wanted a home where we could age in place and accommodate a multi-generational family.

Most of all we wanted a smart, thermally-efficient home that was comfortable through all the Canberra seasons and the challenges of a changing climate.”

“35 degrees were involved from very early on in the design process and were able to contribute enormously given their extensive experience in building sustainable, thermally-efficient homes in Canberra. Tom Henderson from 35 degrees worked with our architect to deliver a home that met and exceeded our expectations.”

The importance of good communication

“We were overseas while the house was being built and 35 degrees managed this with an app that allowed us to see progress on the house and quickly address anything that required our attention. The communication from 35 degrees was excellent.”

“We highly recommend Tom and his team.”
